All About American Pinot Noir – Masterclass with Sommelier Sean Price

March 22 @ 2:30 pm - 3:45 pm

$90.00

There used to be a time when Merlot was the king of red wines in America. Then came a movie. In 2004 the movie “Sideways”, starring Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church, single handedly changed the wine industry in California, dethroned Merlot and crowned Pinot Noir the new king.

Over 20 years have passed, and Pinot Noir is still at the top of American grape varietals right alongside the old faithful: Cabernet Sauvignon.

In this Masterclass Sean will explain what makes Pinot Noir such a unique varietal, and why, just like Paul Giamatti’s character in Sideways, it is described as “Thin skinned, temperamental and in need of constant care and attention.”

We will taste four different Pinot Noirs, two from California and two from Oregon. The wines will be accompanied by light canapes made by Executive Chef Jason Ramos and his team.
