Carl’s Legacy

Carl LaGrassa was the founder of Pluckemin Inn, and the restaurant was an achievement he had waited long to fulfill. While his career was in finance, he had a deep love of food and especially wine. Although he spent most of his time in New York City, he had dreamed of opening a fine dining establishment in his home of central New Jersey. It finally came to life in the Spring of 2005, when Pluckemin Inn was opened to a great welcome in the area.

Today, the restaurant remains committed to fulfilling Carl’s vision of having an upscale restaurant that you could eat at every day. And the wine program is also a tribute to Mr. LaGrassa: he insisted that the restaurant offer a broad list of wines for all tastes – including people who are new to wine. Today, the entire wine list, and particularly the Pluckemin 200, is a living testament to Carl’s vision. Also, PluckyWines.com, the restaurant’s online wine retail program, adheres to the same standards.

In 2011, Pluckemin Inn was bestowed with the most coveted honor in the wine world by winning Wine Spectator’s Grand Award. Carl would have been very proud to share this honor with the staff and the guests of Pluckemin Inn.
